1.  MICHAEL2 HANRAHAN  (MICHAEL1) was born April 5, 1874 in Kilbaha, Co. Kerry, and died November 27, 1926 in Ballineen, Co. Cork.  He married BRIGID O'SULLIVAN April 25, 1908.  She was born in Cloonamara, Enniskeane, Co. Cork., and died December 6, 1956 in Ballineen, Co. Cork.

 

Notes for MICHAEL HANRAHAN:

Michael joined the Royal Irish Constabulary on the 16th of April 1894 just short of his twentieth birthday. He was first stationed in Galway on the 14th of November 1894 and was transferred to Cork in 1900. He was pensioned off on the 19th of October 1920. With his wife, Brigid, he opened a general store in Ballineen. After his death his twin children, Michael and Madge, took over the running of the store.

iii.JOHN HANRAHAN, b. 1914, Ballineen, Co. Cork; d. January 11, 1976, Vancouver, Canada.

Neither Michael nor Madge married or had any children while John joined the priesthood. This resulted in the end of this Hanrahan line.

Notes for JOHN HANRAHAN:

Fr. John was educated at Eniskeane and St. Finbarr's, Cork. He did philosophy and theology at St. Kieran's College, Kilkenny and also studied Canon Law at the Irish College in Rome.

                   He was ordained on April 16, 1938 by Archbishop Traglio. After serving in Kamloops and Princeton he came to the Holy Rosary Cathedral in 1942 as an assistant. In 1949 he was appointed pastor of St. Anthony's Marpole where he stayed for 20 years, after that he served as officialis of the marriages tribunal.
